Now I have connection problems

When I first installed everything went fine including the telnet test. But the wizard connection button was not where your tutorial says it is(see previous post). I then upgraded from oo2.4 to oo3.2. Now the telnet test fails to connect. ps -A shows soffice running in headless mode. My firewall is turned off. What could be my problem?
